Just the perfect kitchen project for any Islamic occasion, the gingerbread mosque is a 3 in 1 gem for families that want to enrich their memories of celebratory days the hilal way.It will benefit you in at least one of the following ways:
1-provides a fun DIY environment bonding experience for you and your kids, it's just easy enough and fun enough to keep kids engaged and the theme gives parents endless opportunities to tie various discussion topics on Islam and Muslim identity and ways of celebration to it
2-makes for an impressive decoration piece during the Eid Holidays, a great discussion starter for your guests and something for the kids to excitedly boast about to their grandparents and cousins.
3-last but not least, it is obviously also a sweet treat that is so much fun to get to. The anticipation of the moment when we can break it into pieces and share it among each other and giggle at the rubble of gingerbread crumbs is so worth the effort of making it.
The original recipe and patterns I found here which calls for different recipes for the domes and the walls but I simplified my work( as is my habit) by using my tried and tested gingerbread recipe for both domes and walls and here is how I did it.You can get the printable patterns on the original link or draw your own as follows:
